Nanoparticles (1-100 nm) in base fluids have numerous exceptional physiochemical properties absolutely different from those of bulk metal due to their extremely small size and large superficial area to volume. A one-step chemical method has been developed for the preparation of stable, non agglomerated silver nano fluid without using any surfactant. Silver nanofluid is prepared by using silver nitrate as a source for silver nanoparticles, distilled water as a base fluid, and tannic acid (tannin) as reducing agent of Ag+ ions. The formation of colloidal silver was followed by X-ray diffraction topography, UV-visible absorption spectroscopy monitoring the growth of the nanoparticles. Investigation of sample was carried out to study physical properties like absorbance; electrical conductance. The ultrasonic study has been done in different concentration of silver nano fluid at different temperature. The different acoustical parameters are calculated using the experimental data of ultrasonic velocity, density and viscosity. The characteristic behaviors of the acoustic parameters are observed at the particular temperature/particle concentration. The results are discussed in correlation with the thermophysical properties predicting the enhanced thermal conductivity of the samples. The absorbance values and the electrical conductance of the samples increase with the gradual addition of silver nitrate solution to tannic acid.Keywords

The experimental data of ultrasonic velocity and calculated values of density are used to study the different interactions in the extractants tri-n-butyl phosphate (TBP) with kerosene. The temperature of the system is maintained 303 K and the frequency used to measure the ultrasonic velocity are 1MHz, 3MHz and 5MHz. This study involves evaluation of different thermo-acoustic parameters along with the excess properties, which are interpreted in the light of inter-molecular interaction between polar extractants with non-polar diluents.The variation of these thermoacoustic parameters with concentration and frequency insight the information regarding the extraction process of some rare earth elements (REEs) like yttrium, lanthanum.Keywords

Ultrasonic wave propagation in solvent mixture is an important technique in fiber engineering technology. Surface bleaching and surface modification of natural fiber can be well maintained when the basic interaction can be studied in natural fiber-reinforced composites with solvent mixture. In the present investigation sisal fiber has been chosen as natural fiber and its surface is treated with solvent mixture of malleic acid with ethanol. The ultrasonic velocities are determined in binary mixture of malleic acid and ethanol with different frequencies (1 MHz, 3 MHz and 5 MHz) at temperature 303 K. The different acoustical properties like intermolecular free length, isentropic compressibility, acoustic impedance and bulk modulus are computed from the ultrasonic velocity and density of the mixture. The variation of these parameters relating to chemical composition of fiber and solvent mixture are discussed in terms of intermolecular interactions.Keywords

The huge deposition of industrial waste and by-product of different agricultural waste in open environment of many regions of India are creating the new environmental problems day by day. The composite materials made from industrial waste or bio-waste has found to be less significant than that of hybrid one. The hybrid composite using coir dust and fly ash particle reinforcement were prepared with proper treatment of blended chemicals by ultrasonic technique. The optimized value of blended chemicals proves its importance in synthesis of better hybrid composite rather than that of unknown proportions of chemicals. The different physico acoustic properties like dielectric constant and sound absorption of synthesized composites has been measured. The results of dielectric measurement and sound absorption property of this material ensures the importance of hybrid composite rather than single composite. The resulting composite property shows that the injection of coir dust and fly ash into it helps in the interface bonding and distribution of absorbed moisture in the material producing a change in dielectric behavior.Keywords

Ultrasound sonication is one of the promising techniques to disperse the fiber particles into polymeric matrix thoroughly. The present study encompasseseffect of ultrasonic treatment on mechanical property of rattan/ epoxy composite (REC). Rattan fibers were initially treated with NaOH using ultrasonic bath sonicator for proper absorption of chemical into the fibre surface. Treated rattan fibers were blended with epoxy matrix material by ultrasound during the winding process to enhance the adhesion. The ultrasonic cavitation, improves the wetting between aramid fibers and resins. According to the ultrasonic treatment the interfacial properties of the composite has been greatly improved. Various mechanical properties such as tensile strength, Young's modulus, flexural strength, flexural modulus, impact strengths and hardness of the fabricated composite have been calculated and analyzed with different weight percentage of fiber matrix composition. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) has been used for the characterization of fabricated composite. The NaOH treated composite shows better tensile, flexural and impact strength at 45.5 MPa, 121.89 MPa and 39.445 J/m–1 respectively. The mechanical properties of the treated REC were better than the untreated REC. This shows that composite with ultrasonic treatment has good mechanical properties and can be used for wide range of engineering applications.Keywords
